VoIP calls (WhatsApp, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, regular cellular VoLTE) need three things: low latency, low jitter, low packet loss. If any of these breaks, your call freezes, robot-voices, or drops. Speed doesn't matter — a 5 Mbps connection with clean numbers carries calls better than a 500 Mbps connection with 2% loss.

Signalyzr's call analyzer measures all three plus your signal quality and predicts a MOS (Mean Opinion Score) — the standard voice quality rating used in telecom. We then tell you whether your problem is Wi-Fi, your ISP, your carrier, or just signal strength.

How it works

  1. Run a short simulated VoIP probe measuring jitter, loss and latency under realistic load
  2. Predict MOS using a model tuned for Indian networks
  3. Compare against the threshold for the call type (voice, video, group call)
  4. Identify the dominant cause (latency / jitter / loss) and the most likely fix

Why this matters

Most people complain to their ISP about 'bad calls' and get told to restart the router. Signalyzr gives you the actual numbers — 'jitter 45 ms, packet loss 2.3%' — which forces the ISP to take the complaint seriously and gives you the specific fix.

Top fixes

  • If on Wi-Fi: switch to mobile data, compare — Wi-Fi is the culprit half the time
  • If on mobile: switch to Wi-Fi calling (VoWiFi) when signal is weak
  • Low MOS with high jitter → Wi-Fi 5 GHz or move closer to router
  • Low MOS with packet loss → suspect ISP or modem; complain with the numbers
  • Low MOS with low signal → coverage problem; needs tower or repeater
  • For VoLTE-specific issues: try airplane-mode toggle to force tower reselection

What is MOS?

Mean Opinion Score, 1–5 scale. 4.0+ is 'good' (a normal phone call). 3.6+ is 'fair'. Below 3.6 is 'poor' (noticeable problems). Below 3.0 is 'bad' (struggling to understand). MOS is the standard telecom metric for voice quality.

Why does WhatsApp say 'unstable connection'?

WhatsApp shows that warning when it detects jitter > 50 ms or packet loss > 2%, even briefly. Run Signalyzr's call analyzer to confirm and identify which (jitter or loss) and where the cause is.

Why do my calls freeze on Wi-Fi but not mobile data?

Wi-Fi has more jitter and loss than mobile data when signal is weak or there's interference. If calls work on mobile data and not Wi-Fi, the problem is Wi-Fi-side — channel, distance, or interference.

Does the call analyzer record my audio?

Never. Signalyzr does not request microphone permission, does not access audio data, and does not record calls. We measure the network around the call (signal, jitter, loss) — not the call itself.
