High Latency Fix

Get your latency under 30 ms. The fixes, in order of impact.

Signalyzr mobile app launching soon — advanced diagnostics for radio signal and deeper cellular insight.

Latency over 100 ms makes everything interactive feel laggy. The fixes depend on where the latency lives: DNS (slow resolution), Wi-Fi (radio overhead), mobile (weak signal + tower), or upstream (ISP routing).

Some fixes are one-click (DNS swap). Others need testing (wired vs Wi-Fi). The diagnosis tells you which to try first.

What this measures

  • Latency to nearest probe
  • DNS lookup time (often the hidden cause)
  • Bufferbloat (high latency under load)

How it works

  1. Test
  2. Identify the dominant cause
  3. Apply targeted fix

Why this matters

Latency is asymmetric — one bad hop ruins the whole path. Finding which hop / which cause is everything.

Top fixes

  • First: DNS to 1.1.1.1 (1-minute fix)
  • Test ethernet vs Wi-Fi
  • Mobile: move to window
  • Trace route — if a hop adds 100+ ms it's ISP routing

FAQs

What's a good latency target?

Under 30 ms is great. Under 50 ms is fine. Above 100 ms you'll notice.

Will VPN reduce latency?

Sometimes — if your ISP routes badly. Usually it adds latency. Test both ways.
